He received his B.A. in Psychology from Claremont McKenna College and his Ph.D. from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Diego in 1999. After receive his doctorate, Dr. Miller completed his post-doctoral clinical work at Pacific Clinics in Pasadena, CA. He remained on staff there for three years while serving as Assistant Director of Clinical Training and maintaining a private practice. Dr. Miller has been practicing in San Diego since 2004 and blends different therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of his diverse clients, with an emphasis on behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused concepts and techniques. In addition, Dr. Miller has developed and implemented The BIG Talks for Boys program, which aims to educate boys about puberty and reproduction, encourage and facilitate ongoing and healthy conversations between boys and their parents about these topics as they mature, and support and educate parents in how to make these conversations with their sons helpful, ongoing, and comfortable. Dr. Miller also assists schools in and around San Diego in sexual education/health curriculum development for elementary and middle school-aged students. The overarching goal of the program is twofold: to educate boys with relevant, medically-accurate information and to lay the groundwork for ongoing discussions between boys and their parents and caregivers as the boys develop and navigate their way through adolescence. An important part of the BIG Talks for Boys program is to educate parents about the importance of having their sons vaccinated against HPV.  The program is also closely aligned with the overarching mission of The Boys’ Institute for Growth (BIG), which is to enhance relationships between boys and their families, peers, and the communities in which they live.
